Frequently Asked Questions
Can I order a new retainer online?
Yes, you can order a custom fit retainer online. We will send a self-impression kit in the post
to you. Once you have taken your impression, return it back to us and we will make your
custom fit retainer at a fraction of the cost of going to the dentist. All our retainers are made
using high-grade 1mm retainer material which has high impact like properties and is
incredibly strong without being brittle.
Can you make a retainer fit again?
Unfortunately, not. If your retainer is not worn regularly, your teeth will start to move. Your
retainer will feel very tight as it tries to shift your teeth back into the ‘retainer’ position. If you
continue not to wear your retainer, your teeth might move/shift too much for you to fit the
retainer comfortably again. We would then recommend you have a new retainer made to
stop any further tooth movement.
How much does it cost to get a retainer remade?
Our current price is £60 for one retainer or £110 for both top and bottom retainers. This is
over a 70% saving on going direct to a dentist. You can also pay a small fee and get
Retainer Insurance with your order and this will cover loss/damage to your retainer(s) for 6
months. You will not have to re-take your impression as we keep all models on file that have
Insurance. Simply call/email us and we will send you a new replacement retainer out the
Should I force my retainer to fit?
No, this will only cause more damage to the teeth and will most likely break the retainer. If
the retainer does not fit anymore due to not wearing it regularly, you will require a new
retainer. You may also get the retainer stuck in the mouth due to the retainer flexing to fit
over the teeth. An unfitted retainer will not only fail to hold your teeth in place, but also move
them to another position and thus ruin the orthodontic result you’ve already got.
Can a tight retainer damage your teeth?
When you first try on the retainer(s), it’ll likely feel tight. This is a completely normal. As your
teeth set into an aligned resting position, the retainer will loosen up, and any discomfort will
go away. Forcing it to fit may cause damage to your teeth or restorations on your teeth, not
to mention the possibility of getting it stuck or causing pain to your teeth
